Registration
Registration starts at 9:30 am and continues throughout the day. You can also pre-register here. If you pre-register, you receive a free entry into our big prize raffle!
During Registration you can purchase your Muttzanita Card for $20. This gets you and your pooch into every event during the day including the Pet Parade, ChuckIt Toss, Doggie Musical Chairs, and the Pet Fashion & Talent Show. You can also sign up for a pet photography session, purchase a CD of event photos and much more.
Every registrant gets a goodie bag as well.
AKC Rally Demonstration

To keep you entertained during registration, an exciting demonstration of doggie excellence by Terri Michelsen. AKC Rally is a fun way to train with your pet.
The dog and handler team move at their own pace, very similar to rally-style auto racing. A rally course includes 10 to 20 stations with commands you give your dog such as ’sit’ or ‘down’, depending on the level. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience. Communication from the handler to the dog is encouraged and perfect heel position is not required, but there should be a sense of teamwork and enthusiasm as they go through the course.
Pet Parade

The Pet Parade will start at the Registration area at Four Paws on the Beach at 10:30am and will parade through town to the beach. Costumes, themes, and fun are encouraged! The Beach Events will start immediately following the parade.

You see them on the beach, you see them in the park. Now, see how you and your pooch stack up in our ChuckIt Toss. Using those arm-saving ChuckIts, have your dog fetch the ball and bring it back to you. The fastest dogs win!
Doggie Musical Chairs

You’ve probably add one musical chairs as a kid, now you can do it with your pooch. Entrants will form a large ring walking with their dog in a circle. When the music stops, the last dog to sit is eliminated until we crown our champion.

Narcotics Detection Canine Demonstration

Another exciting demonstration of canine excellence will happen on the beach immediately following Doggie Musical Chairs to keep you entertained during the lunch break.
Hoover, the Narcotics Detection Canine of the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office is coming to town to show off his skills. Hoover is a 10 year old black lab and semi-retired. His nose is excellent at sniffing out contraband. He has been instrumental in various arrest for drug charges in Tillamook County. It is amazing to see how well canines can sniff out the slightest scent, in this case, narcotics.
Hoover’s handler, Sheriff Deputy Paul Fornay, will be there to show how Hoover does his job. Come on and join to watch the amazing work that canines can do. Hoover is very good at detecting narcotics anywhere, so be forewarned, the Sheriff Deputy is in town!

Ever wonder how people get dogs to do complex tricks like opening the refrigerator door and grabbing you a drink? The key is called ’shaping’. Shannon Ayers from Tillamutts Dog Training will be giving a demonstration on shaping.
Shaping, or as it’s formally known, “shaping by successive approximations,” simply means breaking down a behavior into tiny increments, and reinforcing the dog at each incremental step until you’ve achieved the full behavior.

Area artists have been creating one of a kind dog bowls for you to bid on as well as vote for your favorites. There are two categories — bowls designed from scratch, and pre-made bowls decorated by the artist. Each bowl is up for auction.
Also, you can vote for your favorite bowl. Winning artists will get some great prizes. We are doing a “Chicago-Style” vote — for $0.25 you can purchase a vote for your favorite bowl. Vote as often as you can afford!
